Post-event Report

Chennai, 8 Dec 2016 — The 3rd QS Summer School Summit has successfully concluded in Chennai, India on Wednesday, marking a successful third edition of the event. First held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2014, the QS Summer School Summit has quickly established a niche for itself as the premier knowledge sharing and networking event for professionals involved inthe burgeoning summer school and short-term student mobility sector.

This year’s event had a record 224 registered participants from 128 institutions in 28 countries.

Organized in collaboration with VIT University, one of India’s top-rated institutions of higher learning, the event combined more traditional presentations and panel discussions on quality assurance, summer school business models and summer school consortia and institutional collaboration, with novel and interactive networking and knowledge sharing formats, such as the Summer School Clinic, which focused on the “maladies” faced by summer school organizers, and Partnership Speed Dating.

Other features such as the Elevator Pitch, a 90-second promotional speaking opportunity for participants, and the Round Robin Chat Groups, which facilitated topic-focused group discussions, added further diversity to the event. Unfortunately a planned student fair had to be cancelled due to rare and unforeseen circumstances.

The 4th QS Summer School Summit will be held next year, or in early 2018, at a date yet to be decided, in Johannesburg, South Africa in collaboration with the University of Johannesburg.
